Stormy Kromer Women’s Ida Outfitter Vest [Review]

If you live in New Mexico or the desert southwest, I’m guessing this might be something you’d use on cool desert nights, maybe in the winter, maybe not. I haven’t been to the desert in almost ten years. But I live in the Upper Midwest, where not only are our winters burly, our women are too. (Okay — that’s a joke — mostly — a la Lake Woebegon inspired.) But, our winters are tough. Something people may not know though, is that unless it’s mid-July or August, there’s a good chance you’ll be chilled at any given time during spring or fall too. The Ida Outfitter Vest makes the perfect, packable addition for any outfit to add a layer of wooly warmth for those unpredictable days and nights.

Stormy Kromer Women’s Ida Outfitter Vest

I love having pockets in the vest — perfect to stash a cell phone or protein bar. It’s dry clean only, but I’m going to be honest — unless I spill something on it, I hang my outdoor gear in the closet, just like my grandpa used to and it seems to weather the ages just fine!

I have the dark charcoal gray color and have found it’s super versatile and quite flattering. (Not that when I’m splitting firewood I need to look good, but I feel good knowing it’s a cute vest!) I would say the fit runs “true to size” on this garment.

Stormy Kromer – Made in the USA since 1903

My favorite thing about Stormy Kromer in general is the company was founded and remains in the USA and in the

Midwest, just like me — in the U.P. of Michigan, to be exact. If you’ve been around here long, you know we love to celebrate and support our USA made goods and companies.

The seams (two down the front) give the vest a more shapely appearance and help make it just a tad more feminine than your ordinary wool vest.

Technically, the vest is a wool blend — being 20% nylon, but it feels really nice and it feels like heavy, quality wool fibers.

Women Need a Wool Vest

The Ida Outfitter Vest retails from the Stormy Kromer website for $109.99. It’s one of those pieces of clothing worth investing in for a solid weather-ready wardrobe if you’re an active, outdoors type. Come to think of it though, my mom would really like to swipe my vest to cozy up at the cabin and read by the fire. So really…it’s a good thing for any gal to own!

Disclosure: I received the Ida Outfitter Vest from Stormy Kromer on a complimentary basis to try out, field test and review. All opinions are my own, as usual.
